What's Up With Jennifer Aniston

For this work we had to judge the magazine cover made by someone else. We had to see as many faults that were made by the person and show what they did wrong.

Kanye West. Masking

For this we had to learn how to mask. I wasn't in for this lesson but sir had a tutorial on youtube so I watched that and followed the steps.

Unit 2 Evaluation

Skills:
1.
Print: For this unit I have done many different things that include editing magazines such as brushing up our Photoshop skills to be able to alter our understanding of the programme more than we already knew to make us more skilled in the programme and we also used a programme called In Design to help us to do more developed things with our magazine work like for example making the text go around a picture etc.
Audio: We also had to edit audio clips for this unit. This included making a voice clip of a radio show and adding effects and altering the sounds so that it would suit our tastes in what made it sound more professional. We had to cut our errors and then add backing music along with it. When we were done we uploaded it to our blogs after changing it to an audio clip on sound cloud.
Video: We finally had to edit video clips to help us to understand how it is done in real movies. We were given a range of different clips and we had to make it seem as though the clip wasn’t put together by us but was originally given to us that way in the space of 10, 20 or 30 seconds.
2.
The skills that I have learnt from doing all this is fixing my editing skills because I wasn’t as advanced when we first started out and now I have a better understanding of how to use editing programmes for my own benefit and for school work as well. Because of doing all these skills I was able to help others when they didn’t understand how to do a part or someone was able to help me when I didn’t understand the work. Learning these skills I have been able to work on my independent learning skills as well because now I am more confident about working by myself when doing work about editing various pictures/audio/video.
Before we started doing these I wasn’t very skilled in my work because I had very little understanding of the programme or I had never used them at all before. When we first started out it was a bit confusing because I was new to all sorts of things but as time went it got easier by each lesson.  My skills have made a rapid development because I now can use these programmes with more confidence than I could to before.

Research:
When I was asked to research my product and the audience that would be using/ reading it I found it very easy because we had to choose a genre of magazine that we would have wanted to do and then off our basic understandings of these genres, we stereotyped what our audience would be. We then had to research more to see exactly what we needed to put in so it would approve to the audience. We also created mood boards around a picture of a person and again, stereotyping what they may like. This was an alright task because we had to imagine making a magazine from our perspective and what we would have done to make our magazine more successful.
We used different methods of research like for example when we had to make a survey on Survey monkey so that the people in the class would pretend to be our audience and we could get a better idea of what people would want in their magazines. We also interviewed each other so we could get an idea of what that certain person may enjoy in their magazines. When doing all this we collected all our information together so we had an idea of what people would actually want to read about and what they like and do not like.
Individual work:
When I was working on my own I found it a bit easier to work on my own because when working on my own I already had an idea of what I wanted to do and this way I could start easily and later on receive feedback for my work. Working independently is easier than working in a group/pair because when working in a group/pair you have to share ideas and change things so that it suits everybody’s taste but when working independently you can choose what you want to do and continue doing so.
Group work:
When working as a group it was fun because sir let us choose who we wanted to work with and even though most teachers don’t encourage friends to work together, we still got all the work done. When working as a group we got to share ideas about what we wanted to be in our work so all of us didn’t have to think too much or too little. It was good working in a group because we all had good ideas about what we wanted to do for the work and we would get a piece of paper to write down all our ideas and choose the best ones to use in our work as a final result.
   8.
As a member of a group I think I worked very well because we all got along with each other and came to a conclusion if we had a disagreement about anything. An evidence of this is the survey’s that we had to make when researching our audience. I was working with Cayley and we both put up the same survey with the same questions. This was a good idea so in future we can share our results with each other or put them together if needed to.
I think other group members may say that I worked pretty well with them since we didn’t have many misunderstandings or arguments about what to do in our work. It was enjoyable working with them and I’m sure they would say positive things about me because we had a few laughs when working together but were still in work mode because we finished all tasks set out for us.
Maybe when for example when a member of the group was ill or had a reason that meant they could not come into school and the work was in their user, we could not get much done because all the work done in the last lesson was saved in their file and we had to make do with what sir told us to do and be behind when she did come in.
Creativity:
In terms of creativity I would grade myself to being an 8. I would do this because, in my opinion, I have a very active imagination and I tend to use it in my work a lot when we have to think of ideas and stuff.  My imagination is good because I tend to daydream a lot and then it’s easier to make things up in class like for example when we had to imagine what our magazines would look like or when we had to do our mood boards for our audience.
When we came up with the ideas and then used it in my work I think it went pretty well because we all mainly had a similar idea, but just laid it out differently. It was pretty much accurate because we had to make sure that the ideas were from us and not copied and if sir says the certain idea we choose isn’t very accurate he would tell us that we needed to change the work but I hardly get told to.
Using Equipment and Applications:
Photoshop: I’m pretty good at using Photoshop because it is an easy programme to use and I used to do a lot of editing for myself before we were using it in media. I find Photoshop a fun programme to use and it’s very interactive and imaginative and helps when you want to make a certain picture look a certain way.
In Design: In Design was a programme that I was very confused with using when I first saw it. It looked very confusing and pretty hard to use. At first I thought it was a bit too professional for me and I should stick to Photoshop. But then sir explained to how to use the programme step by step so now I understand it more
Premiere: When using Premiere I thought it looked very easy and cool to use because it was laid out in a very simple way. In my mind I thought to myself that it was an upgraded version of windows movie maker. This made it easier to use because I was familiar with that programme and this one wasn’t very hard to adjust to.
Audacity: Audacity was a very easy looking, straight forward programme to use. It was simple because all we had to do was import all the clips that we wanted, edit it in our own way and then save and upload to our blogs. It was pretty simple and the second easiest after Photoshop.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
I think editing picture and video’s are my strength’s because they both involve using programmes that I am already familiar with and their more interactive and we get to work in groups when doing so. This makes it easier because we all worked together to get the work done. Picture editing is fun and simple and Photoshop is an easy programme to use without worrying too much and also the video editing, even if it loads slowly its fun to use and after a quick lesson on the basics its fun to use.
My weaknesses, I would say is still the In Design programme. It’s still a bit advanced for me and even if I know more than I did before, I still find it a very hard programme to use and wouldn’t mind learning more about it to help me in my future work. I found it hard because it’s a very advanced programme and the steps when using it are hard to remember because there are so many. If I had a few more lessons on the topic then maybe I would have been more confident in using it.
 16.
My skills that I need to improve are my interviewing skills because I need to be able to ask my audience more detailed questions that will be able to help me in my work and make my work look more effective and to the point because I asked different people who had a different perspective about things. By improving them I can make my work more detailed and more reliable rather than asking irrelevant questions. Another one is the one I mentioned before like the In Design because it’s a bit hard to understand.
I would say video editing because I found it very fun to do and it was a very interesting topic because we could edit it however we wanted to that would look like a real, original horror sequence using all different types of shots to help us to get an idea of what it’s like to do video editing like a professional. I find it really fun because I can edit it however I want and use as many clips as I want to which is good because I get loads of decisions on what to use.

Audience - Business Man & Girl

The picture opposite from this is what we stereotyped what the business man may enjoy doing in his life. We had to add as many statements as we could to get an idea of what the man may enjoyed doing just basing our work on the picture. After finishing we had to make a picture moodboard so people can get a visual idea about what the man enjoys

After completing the man we had to do a picture of the women. We did the similar thing with the girl because we had to base our stereotyping with just the picture. After we were done we had to make a picture moodboard based on our understandings about her like the man above.

Mood Boards - Travel/Holiday

This is my mood board that is showing all the different sites for travel. With this I am trying to show that seeing new places is a good thing and get more people to want to go and travel around the world. My theme is travel and I decided to base it on cities all over the world. Most people say that being in the city is boring and dull and I tried showing that going on holiday doesnt necessarily mean travelling to the countryside and the city can be a good place for a holiday as well. The decisions for this were not that hard because I already knew that I didn't want to do a country/beach theme and wanted it to look different and original, so the only thing was to find pictures that looked like the image I wanted to show.

Mood Boards - Technology

This is the mood board I made that is associated with Technology. I used these pictures to try and convey the different types of technology around the world and how the technology has developed through the years. I also tried showing how even though there is all this technology, it does not mean that everything is black and white and that all this technology is bringing colour to the world.
The mood board shows the style of the magazine well because you can clearly see that I am showing all the technology used in the world and updating people on all the different technology there is.

Radio Mix. 3 Girls and 1 Mike and Rihanna on X Factor

 3 Girls 1 Mike

This is my audio radio clip that i made from scratch after sir provided us with the voices. We had to choose a background track and then make sure it blended in with the voice clips. To hear the audio clip, click the link above that is titled "3 Girls 1 Mike"

Rihanna on X-Factor

This is my second clip when we were editing sound clips. We had to do the Twillight one and the Rihanna on X Factor one and I decided to use the Rihanna one first. It was fun using audio clips and fixing the clips so it sounded better than it did before editing it.

Writing Copies

50 Words:

Lots of people, for a few days now, are waiting for the snow. Why? Because the snow means no school or work! Everyone wants it to snow because it means they can spend a few extra hours in bed or sit back and relax, sitting inside with some hot tea.

150 Words:

One Direction is the newest boy band in the UK. In the final, they already have many fan’s consisting of teenage girls.  Being mentored by the music devil himself, Simon Cowell is proud of the 5 boys. Having both good looks and great talent, in my opinion, they could go far even if they don’t win the show. The boys, Harry, Liam, Niall, Louie and Zayn are a breath of fresh air into the music industry as fan girls goes wild because of their singing voices and their spontaneous fun personalities.  Being finalists in the music show ‘The X Factor’ put’s them under pressure as there is big competition this year as there is loads of young talent and people with great voices. The final is next week Saturday (7.45 – 8.00) and Sunday (8.00 – 9.00) on channel 3. Make sure to tune in and find out who wins next week.

300 Words:

Russell and Katy recently got married in the Indian jungle. They only let friends and family attend. But little did they know that a tiger would gate crash their wedding and cause the security guards to chase him away. Luckily the tiger caused no harm and was removed out of the scene very quickly so the wedding could continue. Russell showed his love for Katy by buying her a pet tiger, but because Katy already had a pet cat called Kitty Purry she left the tiger in its home land and the money went to the shelter.
The pictures that were taken at the wedding are top secret as the public are off limit to pictures. Russell says that the pictures will not be shown to people. Their celebrations continued as they celebrated Katy’s birthday where Russell gave Katy a ruby saying it possessed “protective powers” over her, while Katy returned the love by giving him a baby elephant.
Their wedding was grand as they sat on golden thrones and wore traditional Indian dress and made sure the guests wore them too. They invited Indian dancers and singers to entertain their guests and also had fire breathers. Katy was seen wearing a sari and Russell was wearing a kurta for the wedding. They had a fortune telling parrot that told them their future would be long and bright.
But the wedding wasn’t all great as Katy’s best friend rihanna could not attend the wedding. The wedding was very expensive and it’s said that they ordered 1380 cans of soft drink and 5000 bottles of mineral water. The week before the wedding Katy was seen wearing a bridal nose ring and Russell was sporting a henna tattoo. Russell proposed to Katy when they were on a romantic holiday together last year.

NATASHA:
TAXIII!!!! TAXXIII!!!!
A black taxi parks in front of her. She opens the door and sits in the taxi. The taxi man is a really gruff looking guy and looks like he’s having a bad day as he’s yawning.
NATASHA:
(While getting in) about time!! I’ve been waiting for a taxi for almost 20 minutes now. Well just take me to the address on the paper.
NATASHA hands over a letter saying the address to her house. The TAXI CAB MAN takes the paper but doesn’t look at it and starts driving.

                NATASHA:
Excuse me. Did you even read it? How do you think I’m              going to get home? Excuse me? Rude old man...

The TAXI CAB MAN ignores NATASHA and carries on driving. NATASHA is getting worried. Where was this man taking her?
                 NATASHA:
Oi! Are you deaf? Did you not hear me when I told you to                            stop driving? For God’s sake stop the bloody car.

The TAXI MAN carries on driving. NATASHA tries to get out but the door is locked. She panics because she can’t get out. The TAXI CAB MAN is driving far out of the town

NATASHA:
Can you talk?
                TAXI MAN:
Yes.
                NATASHA:
So why won’t you stop the car?
                TAXI MAN:
Because I’ve been ordered to take you somewhere
                NATASHA:
That’s gay. Open the door.
                TAXI MAN:
I can’t. Sorry
                NATASHA:
I can scream out for help...
                TAXI MAN:
Not necessary. We’re here
                 NATASHA:
Where the hell is here?
                TAXI MAN:
Just follow me. If you try to run you won’t get far because the whole place is surrounded by guards.
                 NATASHA:
Seriously?
                TAXI MAN:
Just follow me.

INT. Scene 2
The TAXI MAN gets out and then goes to the back door and opens
It. NATASHA comes out and follows him into the building. He’s walking ahead of her at a fast pace, while she slowly walks behind him looking at the atmosphere around her.
NATASHA:
Where is this place? And why am I here?
                 TAXI MAN:
You don’t need to know where it is.
                NATASHA:
Ok why did you bring me here? Look if you need a girlfriend; go on them online dating sites, because I am not some slapper
                TAXI MAN:
It isn’t for my benefit
                NATASHA:
Screw you. Then who is this for?
TAXI MAN:
My Boss.
They go into the lift and then go to the top floor. Then they walk through the hallway and come to a big door. They go into the room and see NATASHA’s dad sitting in a chair.
NATASHA:
DAD? What the hell are you doing here? I mean... Hi Daddy!
DAD:
Hello NATASHA. Haven’t been listening to a word I’ve said to you have you?
NATASHA:
I kind of have... hang on wait. So the greasy pervert works for you?
TAXI MAN:
I am not greasy, nor am I a pervert young miss.
DAD:
Never mind that. I told you that you weren’t allowed out. And what did you do? Go shopping against my word.
NATASHA:
But... But
DAD:
That’s enough... I’m taking your credit cards away. If you want money you’ll have to work for it.
           NATASHA:
But dad that’s not fair! This is just because I got drunk at some party and then sold off your holiday house for £100 isn’t it? It wasn’t even nice anyway.
           DAD:
That holiday house cost me more than your whole wardrobe alone. I can’t believe you’d be so disrespectful... you’re going to live with your mother in New Zealand.
NATASHA:
What?! New Zealand? Please don’t send me there it’s full of goats...
  DAD:
     You’re going and that’s final.
Natasha stamps her heel in fury and storms out of the room in a gruff, slamming the door on her way out.

Short Horror. Using PremierePro.

In Media we had to make a small horror clip which lasted at least 20 seconds. I'll show you how I did this through the screen shots.

For this bit we had to choose the clips from the side and then double click it on to the screen. Then we had to use the I and O buttons to choose how long the clip should be and then we dragged it onto the timeline.
Here we just made sure that the clips were in the right order and then make sure that they were connected with each other with the clip.
This is the bit where we had to check if our clips worked. We press play, watch it carefully and observe in case we may need improvements in to it.

Double Page From a Real Magazine

This is my unfinished work for when we had to make a double page spread. We had to choose a double page spread from a magazine such as OK or Look etc. then after choosing the certain double page spread we had to make an exact copy of this using InDesign. We had to start from scratch and make our work look exactly like the original copy. As I have mentioned, mine is unfinished. The title of my double page spread was called "Me and My Mam"

Storyboarding.

This is my unfinished copy of a storyboard. In this work we were given a short clip to watch with the rest of the class. We then had to draw our own versions of the short film which gave us an idea of what an actual storyboard may look like. We had to select a scene of every few seconds and then draw it in the box, labelling the different movements and the angles etc. We had to remember the differences between the white arrows (camera movement) and the black arrows (object movement).

For this we were given the names of the different shot types and we had to write a defenition of the word and then draw a picture to help us remember which shot is which.

Fashion Page

For this piece of work we had to make a fashion page using only the pictures that sir put up in the students shared area. We had to use Photoshop to make sure that the work is professional even though we had limeted use of work.

3 Column Layout. One Page

This is our three column layout where we had to make a "magazine" article and make it look like another one we were shown where there was one big picture and text around and. there was also the first letter starting off that was bigger than the rest of the text.

Text Wrap - Glamour Style

In this piece of work we had to learn how to put text around the picture of a person. we used this picture and put on text around her.  we made this work using Photoshop, indesign. since indesign is a very hard and meant for proffesionals, it took us a while to get used to it. this is my final copy of this and for my first try i think this is suitable.
