Double page Spread. (Cash & Careers Clinic)

Here is my work:

This is the unfinished version of my work. We were making our version of a magazine double page spread. The above one is mine. We had to first open up a double page spread using InDesign and then we had to insert the rectangle frame tool on each box. We then put in text into our work, but because we didn't have enough time to find and put in text we just filled the gap with placeholder text.

Then we had to make the thumbnails for the work. We had to put in 5 more rectangle frame tools but they had to be 15 x 15. Then we placed the pictures that sir provided to us and, while pressing shift, we had to resize it into the shape to fit into the rectangle frame tool. We then changed the wrap text for the picture. We put it in a way that the text wrapped around it.

As I have said before this is the unfinished copy. I will later post the finished version of this where I have added other things to the page spread.

  1. You have used AO1 MERIT level skills to make three columns and combine images and text. The images have been placed in frames of an appropriate size and it is well aligned.

To improve this work to a distinction, you could fix up the wrapping space around the images as some of the text crashes into the images. You need a little breathing space around the pictures. Make sure the space is the same for all images for consistency. (you can do this in the Wrapping panel. Window > Text Wrap)

Also, use a different typeface for your headline. Use a different colour to create some visual variety and use it across all of your document for sub-headings. Be careful about headline text being HYPHENATED (this is where words are broken in two and joined with a "-"). Work out what font size will give you the best effect without splitting your words up.
